Who We Are

Cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide, with over 1.8 million cases in the US alone last year (2022). Despite advances in research and treatment, many forms of cancer still have low survival rates, and much work remains to be done. At the UCI Cancer Research Institute, our team of renowned researchers is dedicated to advancing our understanding of cancer and developing new therapies that can improve outcomes and quality of life for patients. From cutting-edge immunotherapies to groundbreaking work in cancer genetics, we are at the forefront of the fight against this disease.

A Multi-disciplinary Approach

The CRI is an organized research unit (ORU), recognized by the UC Regents as a center of excellence in basic cancer research. The CRI presently has 67 affiliated faculty, drawn from departments in the School of Biological Sciences, basic and clinical departments from the Medical School, the School of Physical Sciences, the School of Engineering, and School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
